Hello!
Since it's been almost a year, I wanted to answer some frequently asked questions:
- Who is LLS and National MS Society?
- What is a Kick-A-Thon?
- When and where is going it to be?
- Why would we do 1000 kicks?
- How does doing 1000 kicks help people with blood cancer?
Let's start at the top....
1) The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
Their mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families
The National MS Society addresses the challenges of each person affected by MS.
To fulfill this mission, the Society funds cutting-edge research, drives change through advocacy, facilitates professional education, collaborates with MS organizations around the world, and provides programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move forward with
their lives.
The Society is dedicated to achieving a world free of MS
2) A Kick-a-thon is where we gather together to show our support of LLS by doing 1000 kicks!
We'll also host a Forms and Breaking Championship at the event where students can compete, earn medals, and help out two great causes!
It is a win, win, win for all involved!
A win for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as they will receive much needed funds to fight blood cancers;
A win for the UMAC students so they get to understand how they could make a positive difference and that their hard work will benefit others;
And a win for the people fighting blood cancer so they could have better programs to get healthier faster.
3) We'll be hosting this at UMAC Briarcliff in person
It'll be Saturday April 30th at 9:30am
4) Along with the training benefits; students will win great prizes as they accomplish their fundraising goals!
5) A donation of $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
A donation of $50 makes possible a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members.
A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
Anyone can attend, whether you are our newest white belt or most experienced black belt!
See you there!!!
Respectfully,
Grandmaster Berlow and the UMAC Team
