UMAC Shrub Oak has another very exciting announcement to share. Training Instructor Scott Ryan, a long-time student of UMAC, will be working at UMAC Shrub Oak as the Assistant After School Director. Mr. Ryan is a 2nd-degree Black Belt with over 15 years of training experience. He recently retired from teaching
science for 33 years in the Ardsley School District. He spent 25 years working in a Middle school and the other 8 at the High School level. For the last 23 summers, he has also been the Science Specialist at the Ardsley Day Camp and has made numerous visits to work with our UMAC Day Camp, which was a huge hit!
Mr. Ryan has trained with his two children, Collin and Meagan, who also earned 2nd Degree Black Belts at UMAC. Meagan continues her training and competes for her
college against other collegiate Taekwondo Teams, and Collin was recently a staff member at UMAC Shrub Oak, inspiring and teaching the students alongside Master Berlow. It is clear that Taekwondo runs deep in the Ryan family, and we are excited to have him join our team.
I greatly respect Mr. Ryan, and I am excited to empower our core belief that when Taekwondo and Education meet, we can make a profound difference in our students, families, and community at large.
And adding Mr. Ryan to the team empowers this mission. We have added two master educators who are passionate about TKD training and education to our After School program. In addition to Master Tim Berlow, whose passion and commitment are second to none, and Mrs. (Grandma) Anderson, we believe we have the winning formula to create the most meaningful, magical, and educational experiences for our students.
So join me in welcoming Mr. Ryan to the team, and let’s
get ready for a fantastic school year!
All the best in Taekwondo
Respectfully,
Grandmaster Berlow
