Dear UMAC Families,
In case you missed our last email, we're happy to announce that our 2026 summer camp will be an "Adventure Camp" where we'll be spending more time outside, both daily, and during our weekly field trips!
Today, we'll discuss how we'll incorporate our mat chats into
the daily activities and incentivizing the students to demonstrate what they've learned in the mat chats.
If your child has attended our camp in the past, you know that every day starts with a mat chat based on a weekly character theme (Respect, Cooperation, Integrity, Perseverance, Confidence, etc).
Throughout the day, the students will have opportunities to earn tickets
by demonstrating the character theme.
For example, if the theme is Respect and we see a student saying "please" or "thank you" without being reminded, they'll earn a ticket.
Each ticket will go into a raffle and at the end of the week, a winner will be randomly chosen for a small prize.
This will motivate the students
to really understand and internalize the weekly character theme.
While the prize is important for the kids, we really reinforce that the true prize is the self development that comes from what we're teaching.
AND, we'll of course bring back some of everyone's favorite weekly themes such as Star Wars and Wizard Week!
Be on
the lookout next week for another email (Part 3) where we'll announce a major update that will set up apart from any summer camp out there!
And if you didn't know already, we'll be opening our registration later this month. By registering before January 31st you can save $40/week!
Respectfully,
Master Berlow and Instructor
Bergmann
