It has been announced that effective today, NYS will adopt the CDC’s new mask and social distancing guidelines for vaccinated individuals. Those whom are fully vaccinated are now able to participate in most activities without a mask and without maintaining social distancing.
However, NYS continues to require masks in schools, as well as following a 3 foot social distance rule in academic classrooms.
As we have done throughout the Pandemic, we will proceed in a manner that provides the greatest margin of safety for our students and their families, and that aligns with the strategy being recommended by the OCFS (Office of Child and Family Services).
Therefore, we will continue to have masks as a requirement for students attending any of our classes whether they be UMAC Dragons, kids only, or family classes.
In addition, our staff will continue to wear masks until future notice.
For the time being, as everyone gets acclimated to the changes we will continue require masks for all adults attending their own classes, family classes or who are coming to watch their child’s classes.
We know that the past year has been challenging in many ways. We are all eager to return to the training methods, special events, and daily interactions that we are used to.
We have tremendous appreciation for all of support we have received from our UMAC community. You have demonstrated incredible dedication to our dojang and a willingness to support the modifications that were necessary to ensure the safety of our staff, participants and their families.
It is through your continued understanding and cooperation that we have been able to keep moving forward.
Thank you for your help.
Respectfully,
